  • 14th January, 2016:Celebrities like John Abraham, Milind Soman and Lisa Hayden shall descend on Shillong to take part in the "Run for North East" which will be organised as a prelude to the 12th South Asian Games to be co-hosted by the city from February 6-16.

  • 4th December, 2015: The State Cabinet in its meeting on Friday evening approved the proposals for amendment of the Chief Minister's Social Assistance Scheme for the infirm, widows and the disabled, and amendment of pay and allowances of Chairperson and Members of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission.

  • 4th December, 2015: Moving a step ahead in helping people with disabilities, the Director of Social Welfare H.M. Shangpliang informed that the disability certificate could now be applied online.
    The good news was accepted with cheer by the disabled people as they no longer would have to wait in long queues to apply for the certificate.

  • 3rd December, 2015: Along with the rest of the world, the International Day of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) was celebrated in different parts of Meghalaya on Thursday.
    In Shillong, the programme under the theme: 'Advocating the Various Welfare Schemes/Programmes for Persons with Disabilities' was held at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong where Meghalaya Home Minister, Roshan Warjri graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The programme was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Society for Transforming Educational Cultural and Social Objectives (STECSO).

  • 5th October, 2015: "An amalgamation of two worlds", a dance competition organised by Blossom Fun Club for Children on Sunday at Don Bosco Hall saw both mainstream and differently abled children share the same platform. The motive behind the competition was to showcase hidden talents of the differently abled children.

  • 22nd September, 2015: The workshop was conducted by Manjulika Majumdar, Guest Faculty of the Indian Institute of Cerebral palsy, Kolkata.

  • 17th September, 2015: The State Government has promoted inclusive education by allowing both disabled and normal students to study together in as many as 2178 schools across Meghalaya. The annual report of the office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities for the years 2013-14 and 2014-15 tabled in the House on Wednesday said that out of the total 2178 inclusive schools, 2112 are elementary schools while 66 are secondary and higher secondary schools.

  • 2nd September, 2015: Students of Asha School pose along with the staff of the school and others on the occasion of 17th Foundation Day of the school hed at 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley on Tuesday. With a strength of 32 children and 12 staff members, the school is being administrated under the ageis of HQ 101 Area by 58 Gorkha Training Centre.
