Training of Trainers programme, Parent training programme and CRE programme for school teachers on inclusive practices & rehabilitation of persons with disabilitiesin collaboration with National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad and SSA
19th to 30th September, 2016:The training of trainers programme on disabilities for 100 participants including Multipurpose Rehabilitation Workers (MRWs) from the State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Lady Supervisers from Social Welfare and Teachers / Community Based Rehabilitation Workers from Bethany Society, Shillong was held at Bethany Society, Shillong on 20th September, 2016.
The parent training, an awareness programme for the parent was organized in collaboration with NIEPID, Secunderabad and the District Mission Coordinator, SSA, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai on the 21st September, 2016 at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall, Jowai. Shri. Arunkumar Kembhavi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, Jowai was the Chief Guest at the programme.
During the programme, NIEPID officials gave a power point presentation on the function of their National Institution focussing on the programmes and activities performed by children with intellectual disabilities, objectives and function of the Teaching Learning Material (TLM) and the responsibilities and duties of parents towards children with intellectual disabilities.
NIEPID officials conducted the parent training programme in collaboration with Montfort Centre for Education, West Garo Hills, Tura on 23rd September, 2016 at Montfort Centre for Education, Tura.
The CRE programme for school teachers on inclusive practices & rehabilitation of PwDs was held from 26th to 30th September, 2016 at the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides, Shillong. During the programme, training on use of TLM kits was imparted to the teachers so that the participant teachers will identify the children who will be given TLM kits and these teachers will also train them on the use of these kits.
