Review Meeting on UDID project at State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Civil Hospital, Shillong
30th April 2019: A meeting on UDID with the District Social Welfare Officers & DEO was held on 30.04.2019 at Seminar Hall, State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Civil Hospital, Shillong to enable a better and proper implementation of the NPRPD schemes and the UDID project in the State.
The objective of the workshop is the need for a strategic state-wide coverage of PwDs. Students belonging to Inclusive Schools are to be enrolled state-wide and meetings may be held with Nodal Officers of various schools, appointed as per the tenets of the Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. Workshop and seminars with the MRW/CBRW network and convergence with state line departments is the need of the hour. The Commissioner also highlighted that all should be aware of Section 91 under the Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 which states that "whoever fraudulently avails or attempts to avail any benefit meant for persons with benchmark disabilities, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees or with both."
