Two days State level Workshop on the Implementation of United Nations Convention on the Rights for Persons with Disabilities (U.N.C.R.P.D.) and Disability Certification in collaboration with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (N.I.E.P.M.D.), Chennai and National Centre for Disability Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi held on 16th and 17th February 2011
The aim of this programme was to create the awareness among Government officials from different Head of Department, Medical Officers, Rehabilitation Professionals, Parents, N.G.Os, Rehabilitation Professionals and Special Educators about the importance on the provisions of the United Convention and Disability Certification which is very essential for Persons with Disabilities.
To simplify and have easy accessibility by the Persons with disabilities especially from the rural areas for getting the certificates, in other words it will also enhance an accurate statistical data bank on the incidence, type, magnitude of the Persons with Disabilities in the State which will help in the overall policy planning including financial allocation sector wise.
