Rev. Amirkha School for Disabled
Rev. Amirkha School for Disabled was started on April 2012 in a house (belonging to) of the Mawlai Iewrynghep Presbyterian Church situated at Mawlai Nonglum. It is a (co-ed) special school catering to children with intellectual disabilities, learning disability, C.P. and other locomotor and neurological disorders.
Assessment or Screening
Admission and placement of a child into respective classes is based and done after a thorough functional, physical and educational assessment (depending on the need). This is also done to:-
Identify the type of disability
- Severity level
- Current level of the child
- Provide home based programmes
- For referrals (if any)
- For counseling (if any)
Partnership with Parents:-
Partnership with Parents or Caregivers is a crucial part of our intervention staff and family interaction has greatly benefitted from home visits and parents and teachers meeting.
