Action taken by the State Government during Covid-19

March, 2020: As per the instruction of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India on Comprehensive Disability Inclusive Guideline for protection and safety of persons with disabilities during COVID-19, the Governement of meghalaya through the office of the Commissioner for persons with Disabilities has taken the intiative to print the awareness materials in Braille both in English and local languages (Khasi & Garo).

Awareness Programme on Accessible Websites & Unique Disability ID Project at National Informatics Centre, Shillong

8th May, 2019: Awareness Programme on Accessible Websites & Unique Disability ID Project for NGOs and persons with disabilities was held on 8th May, 2019 at National Informatics Centre, Shillong organised by the office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with National Informatics Centre, Shillong with 53 participants from NGOs, Schools, NIC & Govt. officials.

Review Meeting on UDID project at State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Civil Hospital, Shillong

30th April 2019: A meeting on UDID with the District Social Welfare Officers & DEO was held on 30.04.2019 at Seminar Hall, State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Civil Hospital, Shillong to enable a better and proper implementation of the NPRPD schemes and the UDID project in the State.

Workshop on Accessibility and Access Audit on AIC-III at Bethany Society, Shillong

12th-13th March, 2019: A two day workshop on Accessibility and Access Audit under AIC-III was organized by the office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with Bethany Society and CBM India Trust, Bangalore 12th - 13th March, 2019.
