- PwD voters get their due this election
28th February, 2018: In a first of its kind and a unique gesture and commitment to facilitate voting rights to every citizen in accordance with the Election Commission of India’s theme ‘Accessible Elections’, a Person with Disability (PwD) voter Supurity Marak from Dorambokgre under Rangsakona Constituency was able to cast her vote for the first time in 17 years on Tuesda
- Rallies mark Voters’ Day
26th January, 2018:The administration in all districts organised various programmes based on the theme ‘Accessible Election’ on the occasion of National Voters’ Day on Thursday.
- Football match, concert by the blind to boost Voters’ Day
24th January, 2018:Football match for the blind between teams from Shillong and Tura and concert by members of a blind band, among others, will mark the National Voters’ Day celebration in the city on Thursday. The theme of the programme will be ‘Accessible Elections’ highlighting the need to recognise the disabled.

9th October, 2017:The Meghalaya Governor has reconstituted the expert committee to provide reservation of four per cent posts for physically challenged people in state government establishments.
3rd August, 2017:The State Cabinet has decided to raise the 3 percent reservation in government jobs for persons with disabilities to 4 percent.

28th September, 2016: World Tourism day was celebrated in districts on Tuesday with fervour and an array of events with a focus on differently-abled people. Montford Secondary School in Tura celebrated World Tourism Day on Tuesday by organising a drawing competition. Students of the schools also presented a cultural programme.
7th September, 2016: The four-day Mother Teresa International Film Festival highlighting the life and works of the Saint began at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Tuesday. Paying tribute to the Saint on the occasion, Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan said Mother Teresa understood the pain of the poor and did not hesitate to serve the destitute, lepers, abandoned children, old people and the poorest of the poor.

17th May, 2016, Shillong: Rising star arm wrestler, Jackson Lyngdoh of Dong Ktieh, Nongrah, Shilong, who bagged the second prize at 65 kg category in the state Arm Wrestling Championship in January this year, is all set to participate in the 40th National Arm Wrestling Championship, 2016 to be held at Nagpur in Maharashtra from May 20 to 24.
