  • 9th October, 2017:The Meghalaya Governor has reconstituted the expert committee to provide reservation of four per cent posts for physically challenged people in state government establishments.

  • 3rd August, 2017:The State Cabinet has decided to raise the 3 percent reservation in government jobs for persons with disabilities to 4 percent.

  • 10th March, 2017: A two day North East Regional Workshop on Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities concluded on Thursday at Moreau Institute of Integral Training, Shillong.

  • 23th February, 2017: Specially abled students of Jyoti Sroat Inclusive School under Bethany Society, Shillong joined the rest of the Nation in celebrating National Science Day as part of the week long celebrations.

  • 28th September, 2016: World Tourism day was celebrated in districts on Tuesday with fervour and an array of events with a focus on differently-abled people. Montford Secondary School in Tura celebrated World Tourism Day on Tuesday by organising a drawing competition. Students of the schools also presented a cultural programme.

  • 7th September, 2016: The four-day Mother Teresa International Film Festival highlighting the life and works of the Saint began at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Tuesday. Paying tribute to the Saint on the occasion, Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan said Mother Teresa understood the pain of the poor and did not hesitate to serve the destitute, lepers, abandoned children, old people and the poorest of the poor.

  • 24th May, 2016, Shillong: A 58-year-old person with disability from Nartiang under Thadlaskein C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills has been presented the National Award in Cane and Bamboo.

  • 17th May, 2016, Shillong: Rising star arm wrestler, Jackson Lyngdoh of Dong Ktieh, Nongrah, Shilong, who bagged the second prize at 65 kg category in the state Arm Wrestling Championship in January this year, is all set to participate in the 40th National Arm Wrestling Championship, 2016 to be held at Nagpur in Maharashtra from May 20 to 24.

  • 12th May, 2016: Persons with disabilities (PWDs) drawn from various schools that provide special education to them interacted with Governor V. Shanmuganthan in their own special way at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday, Shillong.

  • 4th May, 2016: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan on Tuesday inaugurated an accessible computer lab in Umniuh-Khwan, Ri-Bhoi District for empowering children with disabilities to access digital learning and enhance their computer skills with digital assistive technology.
