Montford Secondary School in Tura celebrated World Tourism Day on Tuesday by organising a drawing competition. Students of the schools also presented a cultural programme.

  • 7th September, 2016: The four-day Mother Teresa International Film Festival highlighting the life and works of the Saint began at U Soso Tham Auditorium here on Tuesday. Paying tribute to the Saint on the occasion, Meghalaya Governor V. Shanmuganathan said Mother Teresa understood the pain of the poor and did not hesitate to serve the destitute, lepers, abandoned children, old people and the poorest of the poor.

  • 24th May, 2016, Shillong: A 58-year-old person with disability from Nartiang under Thadlaskein C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills has been presented the National Award in Cane and Bamboo.

  • 17th May, 2016, Shillong: Rising star arm wrestler, Jackson Lyngdoh of Dong Ktieh, Nongrah, Shilong, who bagged the second prize at 65 kg category in the state Arm Wrestling Championship in January this year, is all set to participate in the 40th National Arm Wrestling Championship, 2016 to be held at Nagpur in Maharashtra from May 20 to 24.
