Meetings:
Prior meetings were held during the year but not very much effective as there was no permanent volunteer in the Association of Challenged People (A.C.P.) office up until I took over office in November, 2007
Membership
We had substantive members of over 50
Medical Camp
Conducted a Medical camp with Doctors from civil Hospital.
Facilitating a Medical Camp in Mawkyrwat village in West Khasi Hills were 144 people with disabilities received Medical Certificates. The purpose of this certificate is to enable members to qualify and receive assistance from relevant institutions such as Ministry of social welfare, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Employment exchange, Banks etc.
Access to Education
N.I.O.S. West Khasi-National Institute of Open Schooling,
General Secretary of A.C.P. got the permission to get students into his institution but they had to write examinations in a government school.
Food and supply
A.C.P. officials meet the Directorate of food and supply seeking permission of its members to receive food allowance every month, as they are very poor and living below poverty datum line. They were referred to the District Office were the officials told A.C.P. members that, "there is nothing special with disability to receive special preference as we are all human beings and must work for our livelihood".
